Landscape & Light
Habitat conservation is arguably one of the most important types of wildlife conservation. Unlike species conservation, habitat conservation strives to conserve, protect, and restore important or degraded habitats in order to prevent species extinction or habitat fragmentation. By conserving a species’ habitat, you are more likely to address a plethora of wildlife issues simultaneously and encourage biodiversity – the degree of variation of life – within a habitat. Typically, the higher the biodiversity of a habitat, the greater its stability and health. A healthy environment is essential for all living things.
Let’s not take for granted the beautiful habitats we have access to — instead, let’s work toward protecting those essential spaces, if not for the sake of the wildlife, for our own.
